Our community of faith began back in the Summer of 1998. Joel Seymour, our Lead Pastor, along with his wife, Kristi, had been impressed by God to move to Lancaster and plant a Vineyard church. In May of 1998, they left a church they had helped to plant in northwest Ohio in order to start the Lancaster Vineyard with a handful of people. A few of these folks had prayed for quite a while for a Vineyard style church to be planted in Lancaster. With that initial handful of people, we began to worship God, study His Word, and live out our faith in this community.
By January 1999, we started a second small group. In June 1999, we started a third small group and a Sunday night gathering at a local hotel conference room. In March of 2001, we began meeting on Sunday mornings at the YMCA with just under 100 people.
In 2001, Shawn Banker became our associate pastor. Outreach has always been a priority, so in 2007, we began using the Agape church building on West Wheeling Street for our food pantry. In 2015, that food pantry distributed 140,000 pounds of food to approximately 4000 families!
After years of growing at the "Y", we broke ground in 2007 for the building on Whiley Road and in late May 2009 we moved into our new facility. Dick Johnson became the Administrative Pastor on November 1, 2011 after retiring from Diamond Power with 36.5 years of service.
In 2015, we were pleased to add Dina Morgan as our Children's Director and Johnny Friesner as our Youth Pastor.
Today, we continue to be transformed by God’s love looking for ways to share His love with this broken world. Whether in orphanages in Haiti and China, a church and medical clinic in SE Asia, or neighboring initiatives right here in Fairfield County, we desire to see more people become followers of Jesus encountering His living presence and enjoying loving relationships.
