VineyardUSA is a collection of churches huddled around these 6 core values:

  1. Experiencing the Kingdom of God: God is breaking into this world with His rule and reign. Where God is in charge relationships are reconciled, peace is experienced, sinful habits are conquered, and mind, body, and soul are healed. Jesus taught us to live and pray this way when He taught us the model prayer: Thy Kingdom come Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Simply put what is happening in Heaven should be experienced here on Earth.
  2. Experiencing God: we do not believe God is far off. In fact we believe He is as close as the air that we breathe. Therefore we expect to experience His presence often. We experience God through worship in word and song. Out of that life of worship comes a life that experiences God to the point that any distinction between sacred and secular vanishes.
  3. Culturally Relevant Mission: the most culturally relevant missionary was Jesus Christ. God came in the flesh to meet us at our level. We believe God creates a people, the church, for the sake of this world. Therefore we seek to reach the world in relevant ways from our music, speech, and dress to ministries that meet people where they are at.
  4. Reconciling Community: Jesus is reconciling humans to God, to each other, and to the entire creation, breaking down divisions between Jew & Gentile, slave & free, male and female. Therefore, we are committed to becoming healing communities engaged in the work of reconciliation wherever sin and evil hold sway.
  5. Compassionate Ministry: We lean toward the lost, the poor, the outcast, and the outsider with the compassion of Jesus as sinners whose only standing before God is utterly dependent on the mercy of God. This mercy can only be truly received inasmuch as we are willing to give it away.
  6. Reaching the Unreached: We sense God calling us to be a movement intentionally reaching out to groups of people that simply have not been touched by Jesus.
